Dr. Oscar L. Hernandez is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics. He participates in the Maintenance of Certification Program of the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, where he is guideline compliant. He has passed the American Board of Bariatric Medicine exam and is one of a select group of physicians in the country to carry this Board Certification in Bariatric Medicine. Dr. Hernandez is a graduate of Oral Roberts University School of Medicine and completed a dual Pediatrics and Internal Medicine residency program at Michigan State University.
As the founder of MetroMed, Dr. Hernandez has practiced in primary care medicine for over 20 years and has become a valuable medical educator to many local programs. He carries the following teaching appointments:

- Clinical Assistant Professor at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine
